Heavy Rain then dry again

There will be over 50mm of rain over the coming weekend especially in more Southerly and Eastern parts of Ireland.

Parts of the Northwest of Ireland have seen less than 5 percent of their normal rainfall for October.

However from the 20th to 24th October a dry period of weather is on the cards for Ireland before things turn unsettled for the end of the month.

Early indications suggest a cold November and December but not extremely cold before milder interludes are signalled for 2017

Though windstorms are not favored rainfall will be high sometimes due to blocking.

Summer Weather Forecast 2016

Ireland basked in a heatwave for one day on July 19th 2016. Temperatures soared past 30.4c in Mount Dillon in County Roscommon. County Sligo got up to 29c. Later that night there was a lot of thunderstorms with not much rain. The warm air was met by cooler fresher air from the Atlantic causing some explosions or sparks in the sky.

The weather for the rest of the Summer looks likely to continue in the vein of recent months with the odd warm day or short warm spell, however globally there is a La Nina event about to start which will result in cooler weather and this is something we will have to keep an eye on in our Winter Forecast.
