Fine Winters Day, Dublin |
So far 2011 has seen almost every type of weather. This of course is quite normal for the season of Winter. Snow has been rare now this year in comparison to the virtual snowmageddon in 2010 but this is due to a return of Atlantic conditions over the past few weeks.
This type of weather looks set to continue for the rest of February and probably into March also with just short sharp cold bursts. At the moent also it looks like the worst of the frosts are over until next Winter though dont write off a few minus 2 or 3 nights but nothing prolonged like before.
Overall it is weathergossip's belief that 2011 will be quite a warm year and trends worldwide point to one of the warmest years worldwide on record. Just because we mention this does not mean it will be a "barbeque" Summer but there should be warm days in more plentiful supply than recent years.
Back to the present and it is the end of February and March that we now focus our long term weather predictions on. February looks like ending on a mixed if rather mild note. This looks like following into March with possibly some drier weather and a slight decrease in temperature. It seems as if March will bring another month of above average temperatures and usually when this is the case the rainfall is also above normal .

I disagree with your longrange forecast. May should see the start of summer sunshine, June only dry in the third week, July great, August good in the last week and September mostly dry.

Hi Ken,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your feedback. Hope July does bring great weather as the past few years have been quite disappointing especially in the Northwest of Ireland.
