Rest of Summer quite good

The rest of Summer 2013 looks quite good for the most part with Leinster and Munster seeing the most sunshine and highest temperatures while all the time Connaught and Ulster see clouds and temperatures below 20c most of the time.

However these areas too look set to benefit from more sunshine when High Pressure plants itself very close to Ireland as it will after the first week of July possibly as early as next Friday.

Thereafter this pattern of weather continues for most of the rest of the Summer with conditions in Munster in particular being very dry.

Rainfall for rest of Summer 2013

Connaught 90%
Ulster 85%
Leinster 55%
Munster 45%

Cooler weather for now

Junes warm spell has ended and June 8th saw a temperature of 25.3c being recorded in Newport CO Mayo. On this day also 25c was recorded in a lot of Co Mayo and 24c was recorded in other Atlantic coasts as for once the East saw the brunt of the cooler temperatures with Dublin Airport only managing 18.9c on the same day.

Now however we are all cool once again and it looks a hard spell to break. However the High Pressure over the Azores will try to bring some warmer air to Ireland at times and it would be expected that the rest of June would turn out something like this. This is a bit inaccurate but I would expect a few warmer spells and then some lows to the North will be breaking the High Pressure ridges so dates cannot be confirmed.

June starts warm but will it last

Well June has started like a scorcher this year in Ireland but is it going to last.

Shannon Airport and Newport in Co. Mayo are enjoying the best of the fine spell as the winds come in from a more Easterly source.
This is bringing sea breezes to Dublin but city temperatures are still hovering around the 20c mark down to a cooler 18c at the airport.

24.6c was recorded in Shannon on June 7th and this may prove to be the warmest day of the current spell. June 8th looks particularly warm again but clouds are gathering around the favored West and South coasts so this could result in a boring old 21 or 22c but we cant complain at those temperatures either after the past 6 years we have had (plus 10 months of cold weather nearly).

Of course Europe is not faring nearly as well and Ireland was again hotter than destinations in Germany and Croatia and some parts of Spain and Portugal too.

Longer range weather points to a more unsettled picture but with regular warm intervals. Sothere could be a lot of  thundery showers mixed into temperatures and warm sunshine of 20c. Some days will be drier and because of the thundery nature of the showers it will be noticed that on a day one area sees a deluge that another area nearby may just have a sunny fine day.

So alls not bad for now as see start off June on an altogether impressive note, not withstanding the 4.2c minimum reached at Dublin Airport around the 4th of June. Now to try and find some impressive weather photo.
