Well thats if you dont count September as Autumn which of course most people do. But September was warm and sunny so it could be classed as Summer.
October in Ireland has turned much cooler, in fact its cooler than it should be with the temperature nearly 2c below normal for this time of year. The temperatures are going to recover but that is all. The weather is going to remain unsettled with rain or showers on most days.
Maybe midmonth is going to bring a settled spell of weather but models are conflicting and the only universal prognosis is that winds will be from a Southerly source so there should be a rise in temperatures by day and night.
Storms are also forecast to occur at times during the month of October with gales over 60 knots possible in the West and South of Ireland. Heaviest rains will also be in the SOuth so if you live in Cork you are in for a soaking October!
Sligo will have rainfall of around 100mm for the month and the temperature will average out at 10.6c by the end of the month which is about average.
In Summary the forecast for October would read.
FIRST THIRD ; Cooler than Normal and Wet too
SECOND THIRD ; Dry and mild for a time
THIRD THIRD ; A return to unsettled conditions, still mild.
